The Arri 16M is an odd cross between the Arri 16BL and the 16S. The main difference in the design from the 16S is that the 16M can accept magazines which are very similar to the magazines on the 16BL, meaning, magazines that have the sprocketed rollers commonly found inside the camera body building into the mag itself. This make the mag more challenging to load, but your can change the mag on the camera quicker because there is much less to thread up, only the gate. The primary downside to this is that the 16M sacrificed its internal load capability. It is impossible to put a daylight spool into the camera body of the 16M. You must load the camera mags. You won’t be able to hand hold a loaded 16M without difficulty because of the weight of the mags. This machine performs exceptionally well is shooting on a tripod in scenarios where fast loading is a must, such as sporting events, or other live events. The camera also has a superb hinged door (compared to the 16S door which comes completely off). If you want to do some hand held work with a 16M there are some smaller, lighter 200' mags which make the job rather easy.
